MANUFACTURE, INSTALLATION AND RESTORATION OF STAIRS
Stairs in wrought iron, galvanized steel and welded aluminum
Steel staircases are iconic structures in the city of Montreal. Robust and durable (if maintained), it has been used to shape the identity of the city of Montreal and several other cities in the province of Quebec. Today, it is one of the biggest headaches for building owners due to its lack of maintenance in recent years.
Original wrought iron railings and staircases now require almost annual maintenance. This is where we come in, restoration or complete replacement? Most people still opt for wrought iron when replacing for its strength and lower cost compared to other alternatives. But know that several solutions are available to you. Here is a summary from our team regarding the staircases that are available.

THE WROUGHT IRON STAIRCASE
Robust and durable (if maintained), it has been used to shape the identity of the city of Montreal and several other cities in the province of Quebec. Today, it is one of the biggest headaches for building owners due to its lack of maintenance in recent years. The original wrought iron railings and stairs now require almost annual maintenance. This is where we come into play, restoration or complete replacement? Most people still opt for wrought iron when replacing it for its robustness and lower cost compared to other alternatives. WELDED ALUMINUM,
Welded aluminum seems to be a new alternative to most people we meet. However, welded aluminum stairs and railings have been produced for over twenty years. The undeniable advantage of welded aluminum railings and stairs is the zero maintenance required.

GALVANIZED STEEL
In fact, galvanized steel is not that complex to manufacture. In the workshop, nothing changes compared to standard steel (which we historically call wrought iron). All manufacturing processes remain the same for stairs, ramps, etc. When the structure is finished, we take it to a hot-dip galvanizing specialist. The steel structure must be bare, without paint or other contaminants. 6 steps of preparation and cleaning are necessary before the hot-dip galvanizing of the structure, it is then dipped in a high-temperature zinc solution (molten). Drying and finishing work are then necessary to even out the surfaces of the steel structure.
